The AFI Presents Denzel Washington with Lifetime Achievement!

The academy winner for acting, producing and direction were garnered for his works and for the most amazing movies he had created. Some of his best films include “Fences, Training Day, Malcolm X and Philadelphia.”

Some of the prominent celebs were all there to witness the laurels on Denzel at Dolby Theatre. Now he has come in line with “Morgan Freeman, George Clooney and Meryl Streep.”

The ceremony began with Julia Roberts and Chadwick Boseman talking about his achievements and that he has created a niche for himself in Hollywood. Further, Julia said that he had been an inspiration for her in her career.

Her friendship with Washington goes back 25 years before when they had met while shooting for the film “The Pelican Brief.” She shared her emotions stating: “If there is such thing as a genius, I assure you Mr. Washington is one,” reading from an early letter of recommendation that Washington still carries in his wallet. Roberts relayed Stone’s message that Washington was the best actor he’d ever worked with.”

She went on to say stone’s saying that he is “the greatest of any time.” After her was Micheal B. Jordan who said that Denzel was the one who gave life to “Erik Killmonger character in Black Panther.” He said that: “We wish for his wizard-like power to channel the intricacy of the human emotion,” specifically mentioning “Glory” as a source of inspiration for him.”

To add more flavors to the night it was the pop star Jennifer Hudson who dedicated a song to Mr. Washington.

The list went on as a fleet of celebrities kept talking about his incredible works this far. Last but not the least Denzel spoke on his wife “Forty years of sacrifice. Forty years of forgiveness. She taught me about faith, spirituality, love — real love, unwavering love in spite of myself,” “I would not be alive without Pauletta Washington.”
