The 1980 movie Doctor Sleep helmed by Stanley Kubrick adapted from Stephen King’s book is getting a sequel in the name “The Shining.” The film will see Jack’s son Danny a man surviving with “Shining.”
Doctor sleep earlier saw Jack Nicholson the ace actor, the sequel is to be directed by Mike Flanagan and produced by Trevor Macy who had previously released “The Haunting of Hill House.”
The idea of bringing back the classic story was a dream for both of them and a glimpse of the trailer was released recently where fans witnessed the popular “axe scene” which is portrayed by Ewan who peeks through the hole which is in the door going behind jack to find Johnny which the original movie has.
But the question is Jack part of the scene by any chance? Which is been hovering in several people minds.
Further, there has been a question whether Jack will be on board to be a part of this as well. Flanagan stated that: “After Doctor Sleep comes out this week what we knew that we never wanted to do with any of the characters was try to artificially recreate other actors. We never wanted there to be a digital Wendy Torrance or Scatman Crothers [who played Dick Hallorann].”
He also added that “It was very important to us we cast actors like Carl Lumbly and Alex Essoe who would remind of us of Dick and Wendy but would still be playing the characters and doing it their way.”
Further he said “When it came to Jack Nicholson, he is very serious about being retired and they had tried to get him to come out and do a cameo in Ready Player One. And he had said no Steven Spielberg. “
“The thought he’d be like “well, Mike Flanagan…” [laughs] I didn’t think that was going to be realistic.”
The creators have said that “it was most intimidating” to progress this but was firm not to drop it.
