An absolute visual treat, ear-soothing music by Christophe Beck, and the era’s favorite animated characters back in the theatre- Frozen 2 has done justice to its prequel; nothing more, nothing less. While it looks like an earnest attempt by returning directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck to make a soul-gripping sequel, somewhere in the course of the film, we lose the essence of the Frozen that we all loved and celebrated.
Being Disney’s highest-grossing animated movie that won 2 Oscars and a Grammy, it’s hard to recreate the same magic that inspired kids, fashion designers, and several franchises worldwide. Frozen 2’s plot revolves around the main characters Elsa (the Queen of Arendelle), Anna (her sister), the snowman Olaf, Kristan (Anna’s boyfriend), and his reindeer Sven as they set about on an adventure to the North to unravel secrets that surround the Kingdom. The storyline looked more like a tale forcefully written simply for the sake of creating a sequel. The film introduces a few other new characters who fail to register as much as the main ones do.
With that said, it is definitely a Thanksgiving treat for all the Frozen fans out there. The technical detailing was impeccably rich and defined compared to the previous movie that was released in 2013. Talking about the lyrical goodness of the soundtracks, the Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez duo has done a fine job with the words that are as good as ‘Let It Go’. Altogether, Frozen 2 is a decent follow-up that strives hard to equal the fame of its prequel yet scores high with its engaging screenplay.
