CNN Intnl Reported that Google and Facebook are under the radar of Europe’s top Antitrust Regulator which accuses on its data usage. Bringing the core revenue source of both leading Internet companies to the spotlight, The European commission officially reported that it has launched a comprehensive investigation on how the Advertising giants are misusing the user’s data evading the Antitrust Regulations and Laws of the country.
It said that both Google and Facebook are earning hundreds of billions of dollars through Advertisements. Whereas those advertisements are reportedly doing the extensive gathering of the user data. Though this issue was raised numerous times by many government and non-government agencies around the world, this time, it was taken with an aggressive voice and concern by the European Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager.
While Facebook did not respond to the issue as yet, Google’s Spokesperson told media that “Google uses data to make our services more useful and to show relevant advertising, and we give people the controls to manage, delete or transfer their data. We will continue to engage with the Commission and others on this important discussion for our industry.”
This happens just after months before the tech giants fined around $1.7 billion.
