It’s been a decade since Bon Scott’s demise when he was with his AC/DC band while he was on his “If You Want Blood Tour,” in North America. The Mega tour happened on July 2st 1979 when they were brought to Oakland for an appearance.
They performed on the same day as Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, and Frank Marino and so on. When he was performing in “Live Wire,” he goes to the front row of the stage and tares his blue-jean vest and said, “Here’s a ‘Problem Child’ for you.” And later he asked the fans to sing a new song from his album “Highway to Hell” which was not released.
As the band started singing it sounded so new and shaky and Scott stated that: “it so hard that you can see the front row clapping along and banging their fists as he sings, “No stop signs, speed limit, nobody’s gonna slow me down.” Among other numbers, the rest of the set features “The Jack,” his steamy ode to STDs, and a hard-rocking rendition of Let There Be Rock’s “Dog Eat Dog.”
The Aussie band had etched a niche for themselves across the globe in the ’70s and they were to make a niche in U.S post “Highway to Hell,” which made them a sensational rockstar.
Their new album had songs like “Got Rhythm,” “Touch Too Much,” and, of course, “Highway to Hell,” which topped at 47 in Hot 100 by December 1979. Then they went on to go to 17 on Billboard of 200 and reached gold by Christmas and platinum the next year. They broke the record of receiving 7 times platinum.
Bon was unfortunate to enjoy the AC/DC completely as on February 19th, 1980 while he was practicing with his band and then went on to go on that “year’s Back in Black.”
Post that he had gone to a club in London named Music Machine and that night he passed away due to “asphyxiation, choking on his own vomit” as he was over drunk.
