The employee on the sets of entertainment industry Deborah Jones for 19 years states that there is nothing to debate as the amenities for bathroom are the nastiest.
Speaking on it she said: “I have worked on so many shows without a sufficient number of bathrooms, or toilets in the bathrooms, places to wash hands, get drinking water or dispose of trash.”
Another member Jones 50 from the IATSE Local 44 crafts union remembered the “abysmal” restroom amenities while filming in San Fernando Valley. He said that there was no door and sink and there was a trough. Instead “I was told to drive down the street and use the one at Ralphs supermarket.”
In yet another set a group of 100 members had to use a “three-hole honey-wagon.”
As of Hollywood the pandemic outbreak has catered tough lessons in the secret when they worked for the high-end and largely populated surroundings for television and film shoots. Meanwhile, it has also revealed the worst side of sanitary conditions that has been there for years on these sets.
Till today, very bad hygiene is been part of these workers and now as the productions have been halted due to the viral spread it has made heated debates on these hygiene practices.
Further one of the prominent technicians behind the lens Lawrence Karman stated that: “If I’m on a stage they call wrap and everyone leaves and they lock the doors and then open it up at call.”
He continued speaking on the downtown of Los Angeles: “You just try not to get too close to it and keep working.”
The present scenario has pushed several to think about the budgets and the welfare of crew members.
