Amber Portwood broke down in tears while describing her strained relationship with her 12-year old daughter Leah. During the September 14 episode of Teen Mom OG, Portwood revealed that Leah refuses to go to therapy with her to fix their relationship.
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen her. She hasn’t even answered any of my calls and texts. It truly breaks my heart that Leah and I are drifting apart,” Amber, 31, said in a confessional. She also added that “For the past six years, I have been seeing a psychiatrist. I think If I could go therapy with Leah, it might bring us closer together. But Gary Shirley (her ex) and Kristina (Gary’s wife) feel differently.”
The reality star has accused ex Gary and his wife Kristina of tearing apart the relationship between her and her daughter. Gary stated that he had asked Leah if she was ready for therapy, but she didn’t seem interested. So Gary didn’t want to push it on her. The 12-year old refused to celebrate Easter with Amber and her son James. Amber talked about how much she misses her daughter. “I think she’ll be happier in life when it comes to understanding a bit more of what the past was, where things happen today and how I am today and that it’s okay to have a mom that’s been through these things and you shouldn’t be ashamed of that.” In one of the episodes, Amber said that she was hurt by Leah’s comments (Leah said Amber “just gave birth” and then “left” her). Teen Mom OG airs Tuesdays (8 p.m E.T) on MTV.
