Music fans, rejoice!
While the NFL teams are busy competing in the playoffs to enter Super Bowl LVI, fans can now get a taste of the halftime show and what to expect. After announcing the line-up in September 2021 of the stars who’d be performing during the legendary halftime show, Pepsi released the much-anticipated trailer for the same.
The video titles, ‘The Call’ features Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige (who also performed in the 2001 Halftime Show), Kendrick Lamar, and Dr.Dre, in that order in the trailer. It goes without saying that this is going to be one epic halftime.
The five music superstars will perform at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on February 13.
F. Gary Gray, director of ‘Straight Outta Compton’ — biopic about Dre’s group N.W.A. — created the video. Aptly titled ‘The Call’, each artist receives a call separately, and soon after they all meet up at the SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles.
The Super Bowl hasn’t taken place in LA since 1993.
“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,” Dr.Dre had said in a statement when the performance lineup was announced. The seven-time Grammy-winning artist added that their halftime performance will be an “unforgettable cultural moment.”
