Moviegoers are in for a special treat this Thanksgiving!
In a remarkable turn of events, Netflix announced that major theater chains in the US reached a deal with the streaming service to screen one of its biggest upcoming projects of the year, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The streaming giant said it has agreed to a deal with AMC, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark, and will carry out an exclusive sneak-peak of Glass Onion, the sequel to the 2019 mystery hit Knives Out.
The theater chains are all set for a one-week run of the Daniel Craig starrer, starting November 23, exactly a month before its Netflix release on December 23.
This is the first time theaters are playing a Netflix-produced movie, as they have largely refused to screen the streaming giant’s releases.
Glass Onion’s predecessor, “Knives Out,” was one of the biggest hits of 2019, with a box office of more than $311 million in ticket sales.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, although a sequel to Knives Out, does not have any returning characters (No Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, unfortunately). But we do see Daniel Craig reprising his role as Detective Benoit Blanc.
The Rian Johnson film also stars high-profile actors like Edward Norton, Ethan Hawke, Kate Hudson, and Kathryn Hahn.
