In this short compilation of movies, we will look closely at some of the films based on family subjects of sentimental interest. These movies were actually adapted from novels of the same name.
- Little Women
Written by the American novelist, Louisa May Alcott, the book is about the four March sisters and their parents. There were many film adaptations of the novel, which was based in the nineteenth century. The sisters are Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. Yet another interesting and prominent character is their neighbor, Laurie. The many numbers of film adaptations of the same book by itself show how people love the story. The 2019 movie was directed by Greta Gerwig.
- Pride & Prejudice
This one is a 2005 film based on the novel of the same name by writer, Jane Austen. Directed by Joe Wright, it centers around five sisters who are from an English family and their ways of dealing with morality and marriage. The lead character is Elizabeth Bennet, portrayed by Keira Knightley. Her romantic interest, Mr. Darcy, is played by Matthew Macfadyen.
- Sense and Sensibility
This is yet another Jane Austen novel that’s adapted into a movie of the same name. The story revolves around the Dashwood sisters, and John, their half-brother. It also includes their widowed mother. As in a number of movies, the sisters have to deal with love as well as heartbreak. The star-studded cast includes Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman, and many others.
