Legendary movie star Sylvester Stallone, who is 72 years old, broke heartbreaking news to his fan army! Forty-two years after he first played the inspirational boxer on film, it seems he is turning his back on the character Rocky Balboa, for good. The Oscar-nominated actor hung up his boxing gloves and he couldn’t be happier about it.
He posted a video on his Instagram feed with an emotional caption “I just want to thank everyone around the whole wide world for taking the Rocky family into their hearts for over 40 years. It’s been my ultimate privilege to have been able to create and play this meaningful character. Though it breaks my heart, sadly all things must pass… and end.” He added, “I love you kind and generous people, and the most wonderful thing of all, is that ROCKY will never die because he lives on in you…”
To which many of his fans wrote: “Rocky will live on and on”. Another fan reminisced the film franchise that began in 1976 and said “The Rocky films raised me” and many comments came flowing to the star.
