The Duchess of Sussex, the sweet and gorgeous Meghan Markle is known for her unconventional choices. An inspiration to women across the globe, she represents and supports several causes. She recently made headlines for brushing aside Royal protocol and donning dark nail lacquer to the British Fashion Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The Duchess made a surprise appearance at the event to honor her good friend Clare Waight Keller with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award. Actress Rosamund Pike of Gone Girl fame was present alongside to hand out the prestigious award.
Ms. Keller is the artistic director at Givenchy, a 66-year old Parisian luxury fashion brand. She designed Ms. Markle’s beautiful wedding gown. With the glow of pregnancy evident on her face, the 37-year-old Duchess looked breathtaking in the one-shoulder black velvet gown that she accessorised with gold bangles and gold Tamara Mellon heels.
Meghan who has always been vocal about her love for the French way of styling said, “As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear. Sometimes it’s very personal, sometimes it’s emotional. But for me this connection is rooted in, really, being able to understand that it’s about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women.” Wise words indeed!
