Not so long ago, Will Smith expressed his interest to pull off from the ‘Suicide Squad’ owing to a busy filming schedule with movies such as “Aladdin” lined up for release.
Warner Bros. studios recently announced in their official statement that Idris Elba will replace the MiB star in the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.
The original Suicide Squad movie that hit theaters in 2016, made $746 million worldwide despite mixed to poor reviews. It starred Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne in lead roles.
For now, apart from Idris Elba, the rest of the cast is yet to be announced though Margot Robbie will be reprising the role of Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie was the lone shining light of the Suicide squad movie earning her a huge fan following all around the world.
Warner Bros continues to enlist top rated A-list actors to keep the franchise moving forward, Idris Elba being the newest addition. Though Will Smith did a pretty good job of portraying Deadshot, we’ll have to wait and see if Elba can up the ante.
