Multiple Bomb blasts strikes the Island nation Sri Lanka. The terrible news has unveiled as the world was celebrating Easter Sunday on 21st of April . On the Easter day, Sri Lanka witnessed a series of terror attacks for the first time post civil war in 2009 which claimed at least 70000 Sinhalese and Tamil lives. The explosions took place in a series of public places where people gather. It is reported that around 300 people were killed and more than 500 injured. Sources say that it is the worst attack since the civil war. There is still no claim for these heinous attacks. Police are still investigating the crime scene and 24 arrests have been made under suspicion. The police suspect the hand of religious extremists in this gruesome act. The terror attacks seem to have been carried out by suicide bombers.
“There is also information that these have been suicide bombing carried out,” said, Manisha Gunasekera, the high commissioner of Srilanka.
The blasts took place in 8 different locations including churches and star hotels killing a majority of Christians and foreign nationals including Indian, Japanese and Turkish visitors on various purpose.

- The Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo
- Near Dehiwala Zoo in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia
- A house in Mahawila Gardens, Dematagoda
The Sri Lankan government has temporarily blocked social media like Facebook) and Instagram as the investigation is underway.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said, “Information was there” about possible attacks. And “while this goes on we must also look into why adequate precautions were not taken,” he said.
The entire sunday explosions are suspected to be the act of religious extremists. Its not irrational that the radar is on the extreme-nationalist Buddhist organization led by Bodu Bala Sena, which has pledged to defend the religion.
World leaders are pouring their condolences over the terror attacks and condemning the act.
