The latest buzz is that Matt Damon is set to play the role of “Bill Baker an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma” in the movie Stillwater. The title sounds fascinating, and it is a beautiful synopsis based on “universal themes of connection and finding for truth” stated by David Linde Participant Media CEO.
The story revolves around a rig worker in an oil company fighting to free his daughter (played by Abigail Breslin) from a French prison. The movie is set to go on floors this month and the release date is yet to be announced.
The crux of the film is that the rig worker travels to Marseille to see his estranged daughter who is falsely accused of a crime and in prison. He faces various problems like communication barriers, cultural issues, and intricate legal systems. So, Bill takes it as his own mission to set his daughter free. During this progression, he befriends a French woman and her daughter and develops a new bonding which helps him feel a “larger sense of belonging in the world” as per reports.
Written and directed by Academy Award Winner Tom McCarthy it is produced by “Participant Media, Liza Chasin, Jonathan King, and McCarthy himself. Late producer Steve Golin will also be included in the producing credit. Executive producers are Jeff Skoll and Mari Jo Winkler-Ioffreda”.
