Ana de Armas talks about her thoughts on the current status and perception of actors among their fans in an interview with Vanity Fair. The bridge that social media has built between the fans and actors, where they can be seen along with their whereabouts with their personalities, not just the characters they play on screen. The actress said, “I feel like the new generations don’t have that concept of mystery surrounding fame, because of social media. There is so much information out there and oversharing. The concept of a movie star is someone untouchable you only see onscreen. That mystery is gone.”
The stars can even voice their opinions and have a direct connection with people who admire them, and share what they feel like, for which she says, “for the most part, we’ve done that to ourselves—nobody’s keeping anything from anyone, anymore.” Ana who played the character of the iconic star of Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe says, there are certain areas where she could relate to the classic star.
Though there are perks of social media, there are even certain cons of it. The actress also addressed those as “I barely use it because I just feel like things are always wrong on social media.”
She talks about the midpoint, “If it was up to me, I would delete Instagram right now, but I can’t. I understand that I’m not just an actress. I have other brands that I’m working with and I have other commitments. It’s tricky because you feel the pressure to share some personal insight, or something about your private life, to keep people interested in you. You have to find a balance somehow, which I find very difficult.”

Ana De Armas about ‘Blonde’, receiving an NC-17 rating.
Cuban and Spanish actress Ana De Armas has spoken out about her upcoming Netflix drama ‘Blonde’, receiving an NC-17 rating. The rating means, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to view the film in theaters. In an interview with the French magazine L’Officiel, the actress expressed her frustration and bewilderment over the rating by the Motion Picture Association.
“I didn’t understand why that happened. I can tell you a number of shows or movies that are way more explicit with a lot more sexual content than Blonde. But to tell this story it is important to show all these moments in Marilyn’s life that made her end up the way that she did. It needed to be explained. Everyone [in the cast] knew we had to go to uncomfortable places. I wasn’t the only one.”
Ana worked with a dialect coach for a year, went through multiple auditions, and studied Joyce Carol Oates’s novel by the same name, to prepare for the role.
Director Andrew Dominik predicted the Netflix biopic will get an NC-17 rating in February, stating, “It’s a demanding movie. If the audience doesn’t like it, that’s the fucking audience’s problem. It’s not running for public office.”
Bond 25 has a good balance between familiar and fresh faces. This would be Daniel Craig’s last outing as James Bond. We have our beloved Academy Award winner Rami Malek portraying the villain. No offense but this would be the first time I’d be rooting for the villain (Rami) than 007 himself.
