The popular CGI based character Gollum which was portrayed by Andy Serkis is now on a 12-hour marathon reading “The Hobbit” on YouTube to raise funds for a charity in the U.K which caters reliefs for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
With his reading kick-started at 5 AM ET in the morning, he has raised around £203,699 an approx of $253,000 now.
Posting on the GoFundMe page he said: “So many of us are struggling in isolation during the lockdown,” and “While times are tough, I want to take you on one of the greatest fantasy adventures ever written, a 12-hour armchair marathon across Middle Earth whilst raising money for two amazing charities which are doing extraordinary work right now to help those most in need in the UK: Best Beginnings and NHS Charities Together.”
A good start begins with us and children and funds from this marathon will be given to the work which supports ‘mental and physical health of pregnant families and new parents across the UK.’
NHS organizations are a one-stop place for National Health Service charities in the UK and it has introduced a request to back their employees, volunteers, and patients.
