This year Halloween is more than just tricks and treats. SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will carry NASA’s next group of astronauts to space on Halloween night. SpaceX used this spooky holiday to launch its latest commercial crew.
The mission is called Crew-3 and is all set to visit outer space from pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 2.21 a.m on Halloween. This crew will be the third crew rotation mission of the human space transportation system and fourth flight with astronauts to visit the International Space Station through NASA. The mission will carry an international crew of four astronauts on a six-month expedition to the microgravity laboratory. NASA astronauts Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn, Kayala Barron, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthias Maurer will launch aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket on its way to the space station.
“Such research benefits people on Earth and lays the groundwork for future exploration of the Moon and Mars starting with the agency’s Artemis missions, which includes the first woman and person of color on the lunar surface,” says Nasa
The crew will conduct scientific research and maintenance, returning to earth in Spring 2022. You can watch the launch on the Space.com home page and NASA television, the NASA app, and other social media platforms. The events are all subject to change due to weather or technical reasons!
