The queen of pop Beyonce’s little girl Blue Ivy has received her first BET Award on June 28th which occurred virtually. She got the award along with her mom, Wizkid, and Saint John for the song “Brown Skin Girl.”
The award was set aside for “neo-soul and/or traditional R&B artists,” and the 4 of them surpassed five other nominees to receive it.
“Brown Skin Girl” was nominated against “Underdog” by Alicia Keys, “Melanin” by Ciara, Lupita Nyong’o, Ester Dean, City Girls & La La, “I Choose” by Layton Green, “Tempo” by Lizzo and Missy Elliott and “Afeni” by Rhapsody and PJ Morgan.
It’s not the first time for Ivy to be appreciated for her work which was part of ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ soundtrack in last year, as the song has also won ‘NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Duo or Group Performance,’ as well as the ‘Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the Soul Train Awards.’
This year’s Awards had been a cherishing moment for the Carter clan as Queen B is also been awarded for the biggest honor ‘the Humanitarian Award’ for the occasion. She was also nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ (Homecoming: The Live Album), Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Best Movie (Homecoming: A Film By Beyonce).’
At the start of this month Beyonce and her family were on a trip to Hamptons and they were all with they are facemasks due to the ongoing pandemic. It’s because of the deadly COVID-19 that the BET has been pushed to organize the event virtually.
