It’s no surprise that the musical drama was selected to be crowned the worst picture at the 40th Golden Raspberry Awards. Also called the Razzie Awards, it is a parody show that picks the worst of Hollywood cinema every year.
Directed by Tom Hooper, Cats performed poorly at the box office and was ridiculed by critics and audiences alike. In spite of the huge star cast and revised computer graphics, the film neither had a gripping plot nor an interesting screenplay.
Cats bagged 6 awards including the worst picture, worst supporting actor ( James Cordon), worst supporting actress (Rebel Wilson), worst director (Tom Hooper), worst screenplay (Lee Hall & Tom Hooper), and worst screen combo (Any Two Half Feline/ Half-Human Hair Balls).
The award ceremony which was initially scheduled for March 14 was canceled amid the Corona scare and was instead released on YouTube.
