In recent times, many celebrities proudly and publicly come out as LGBTQ to inspire a new generation of queer youth.
A person’s gender identity or sexual preference won’t be headline news. Popular stars sharing/discussing their experience publicly leave a positive impact on those struggling to accept their authentic selves.
From well-known singers JoJo Siwa, Demi Lovato to popular stars T.J Osborne and Kehlani have come out as LGBTQ recently.
In January, the “Dance Moms” breakout star Siwa announced as queer in a trending TikTok video. The 17-year old Siwa’s video was out with a photo on Twitter in which Jojo wore a T-shirt that has “Best.Gay.Cousin.Ever.” in April, Siwa told People that “I like queer.” She said that “Technically, I would say that I am pansexual because that’s how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human.”
In February, the lead vocalist T.J.Osborne from the country music group came out as gay.
Osborne told Time in February that “People will ask, ‘Why does this even need to be talked about?’ and personally, I agree with that.” “But for me to show up at an awards show with a man would be jaw-dropping to people. It wouldn’t be like, ‘Oh, cool!'”
In March, the pop singer Demi Lovato opened up about her personal life that includes her sexuality. She announced that she is pansexual. In an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, she expressed that “I also don’t know if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself maybe getting pregnant.” “I’m so fluid now — and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is becthatause I was super closed off.” Rogan enquiring her if pansexual was the correct term to use, Lovato said, “Yeah, pansexual.”
Kehlani came out as a lesbian during an Instagram live video in April. She stated in that video,
“You wanna know what’s new about me? I finally know I’m a lesbian.”
In April, Ronen Rubinstein came out as bisexual. His gay role on 9-1-1: Lone Star helped him to understand his sexuality. In April, Rubinstein told the publication that”I fully identify as bisexual.” “I just got goosebumps saying that. It feels so good to talk about, and at the same time, it feels so good to finally be comfortable with it.”
Colton previously denied his sexuality to the world. “I’ve run from myself for a long time. I’ve hated myself for a long time,” Underwood said on the show. “And I’m gay. And I came to terms with that earlier this year and had been processing it. And the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know.”
“I’m still the same Colton everybody met on TV. I’m still the same Colton to my friends and my family. I just happen to be able to share with people now all of me,” he said. “And I am proud of that, you know? I am proud to be gay.”
