David Fincher — To Receive Honorary Cesar Award

David Fincher, a legendary filmmaker will be receiving the Honorary Cesar Award from the French Film Academy on February 24. This prestigious award  César d’honneur is given to the director for lifetime achievement, at the 48th César awards ceremony, in Paris next year.

The director is world-renowned for his remarkable movie creations such as Se7en, Fight Club, Gone Girl, Mank, and The Social Network. He has also directed and produced awesome television series such as House of Cards, Mindhunter, and Love, Death & Robots for Netflix.

“David Fincher is one of those rare directors whose entire filmography has become iconic over the years,” the French academy said about the director. “An outstanding technician, a true visionary, his cinema is hypnotic, cerebral, a source of inspiration for countless artists.”

“He shocked us with ‘Seven,’ kept us on the edge with ‘The Game,’ and struck us again with ‘Fight Club.’ With ‘Zodiac,’ ‘The Social Network,’ ‘Gone Girl,’ which is his biggest film success so far, or with ‘Mank’ (his Oscar-nominated Netflix drama about the screenwriter of ‘Citizen Kane’), he breaks the usual codes and garners raving international reviews,” said the Cesar academy.

It is to be noted that the Honorary Cesar Award was awarded to actors such as Cate Blanchett, Penelope Cruz, Robert Redford, and George Clooney. This accolade is a tribute to artists’ and filmmakers’ achievements.
