Disney+ accounts hacked and sold on the Dark net

It’s been less than a week since Disney+ launched and avid Disney fans who signed up to the platform found their accounts hacked and being sold on the dark web for as low as $3.

According to a CNBC report, hijackers hijacked the the user accounts just hours after the service was rolled out. News sites like ZDnet and BBC confirmed the hack after users mysteriously found themselves locked out of their accounts. In some hacker forms, the account user ID and password were posted on hacker groups and forums.

Disney was quick to respond to the hack with a spokesperson telling CNBC that the company “takes the privacy and security of our users’ data very seriously and there is no indication of a security breach on Disney+.” It says that only the users accounts have been hacked and not Disney+ as in itself.

Disney+ launched on November priced at $7 a month and $70 a year. It is supposed to be the Netflix killer and end Netflix’s dominance in online streaming.

It’s pilot launch took place in Netherlands and then extended its services to US and Canada and garnered as many as 10 million customers in 24 hours of its launch.
