2019 was a spectacular year with innovations, technical advancements, and surprising discoveries in almost every other field known to mankind. Right from saving lives in the area of medicine to ground-breaking automobile revolutions, things seemed surreal than ever. Here’s a list of some of last year’s epic tech finds.
Predicting Premature Babies
All thanks to Stephen Quake, a bioengineer at Stanford, who has come up with a simple blood test that can detect preterm labor. Science never had this option of predicting the birth of premature babies earlier. It now takes less than $10 to save a baby’s life. This test is suggested to all pregnant ladies and is done by sequencing the free-floating RNA in the mother’s blood.
Customized Cancer Vaccines
An innovation that needs big applause, customized cancer vaccines adjust the immune system to fight the cancer cells by identifying the tumor. This vaccine limits the damage to healthy cells during treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.
Google Duplex
An advanced form of Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa; Google Duplex involves a real-time conversation with an actual person to book a hotel room or do a table reservation. It is truly fascinating to see how much difference AI assistants can bring to our lives.
Driverless Cars
Self-driven cars weren’t a thing of 2019! In fact, the concept of driverless cars was put forth years ago. But, it was only last year that Waymo, Google’s sister company, revealed that their self-driven cars have covered 20 million miles in total on public roads. Electric cars have also had their breakthroughs in 2019.
Tapp Lock
Smart fingerprint padlocks are the era’s latest safety inventions that are replacing our conventional lock and keys. Simply use your fingerprint to unlock it 0.8 seconds. You can apparently store 500 fingerprints in it and also find the history of the people who have unlocked it using an app installed on your smartphone. Gone are the days of theft and robbery!
