Golden Globe Awards 2022 Highlights

Snoop Dog and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced the nominations on 13th December 2021. The show was organized after Amazon, Netflix, Warner Media, and various other media organizations/actors boycotted it.

While everybody wanted to host the ceremony in a grand manner, HFPA disregarded this request and went on with its plan to host the ceremony without hosts, guests and revealed the winner’s list via a press release. HFPA was boycotted after the organization requested to include a diverse membership plan. So, disputes aside, let’s focus on the award winners now.

• ‘Gambu’ from squid game took home the award for best-supporting actor.
• ‘Encanto’ won our hearts and the award for the best-animated movie with its magic.
• Jason Sudeikis took home his very own award for the musical comedy ‘Ted Lasso’
• Kate Winslet also took home an award for Mare of Easttown under the anthology/limited series category.
• Composer Hans Zimmer wins his 3rd GG and has been nominated 15 times so far.
• Wills Smith was awarded the best actor for his role in ‘King Richard’.
• ‘The Power of The Dog’ and ‘West Side Story ‘was the most prominent movies that secured individual awards for themselves and their crew members.
• Succession, the TV series stole the show this year with top honors.
• Michaela Jae Rodriguez, an actress on the television series Succession made history on the 79th Golden Globes by becoming the first transgender to win the award.
