Google Takes Down Hundreds of Donald Trump Campaign Ads on YouTube

Google has removed over 300 political ads run by the Trump campaign for the 2020 presidential elections as per CBS News report.

When asked for the reason for the massive take-down, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said that the ads of President Trump that were not approved to run on Google or YouTube as they violated several policies.

“For every single video, I think it’s really important to look at it,” Wojcicki stated. “Politicians are always accusing their opponents of lying. That said, it’s not OK to have technically manipulated content that would be misleading.”

The correspondent interviewing the CEO, Lesley Stahl further asked Susan Wojcicki on the algorithms that decide what is right or wrong to which the CEO replied–

“Well, first of all, there are lots of very successful conservative creators on YouTube,” Wojcicki responded.

“Our systems, our algorithms, they don’t have any concept of understanding what’s a Democrat, what’s a Republican. They don’t have any concept of political bias built into them in any way. And we do hear this criticism from all sides,”  she said.

As the Election drama heightens, politicians have resorted to immoral tactics like slamming the opposition, even if they have to lie and twist facts. They do it in their speeches and they do it in the political ads on YouTube and Facebook. In fact, quite recently, Facebook and Google were criticized for not removing an ad that spread falsehood about Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

Trump has a jarred history with the Silicon valley, especially when Facebook and brought down far right activists like Alex Jones.
