Hollywood Costume Designers to ‘Mask Makers’

Due to the pandemic outbreak, every industry is struggling to make ends meet and the field of designing has also joined the list.

One of the popular celeb designers Nickolaus Brown has also expressed his anxiety as his big-budget work has been halted due to Corona.

Brown was part of Netflix Magnum opus “Red Notice” where he was ensuring to make the best fit of costumes for Dwayne Johnson in Atlanta prior to the filming stopped.

But this did not stop Brown from being active as he posted in his social media “Call to arms” canvassing 25 and more designers, sewers and cutters to do masks and other safety needs for healthcare workers and so on.

He stated that: “It breaks my heart,” his voice was shattered while he was in an interview over phone from his residence in Los Angeles. “So I have a personal reason for doing this as well.”

Further, the entertainment industry is devastated by the pandemic outbreak which has stopped both movie and television productions across the globe. Moreover, an approx of 100,000 technicians have been laid off and have been seeking reliefs that are provided by unions, and other NGO organizations.

Amidst the crisis, designers have geared up to showcase their skills by helping others. He said that: “Nobody is working right now, so everybody needs a purpose; everybody needs something positive to focus on,” and “we have the skills and the talents to make this happen.”

Brown’s employees and his International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees have joined hands with designers and wardrobe workers to cater face masks from funded fabrics and other clothing materials.

Further, L.A based designers have made 3,500 to 4,000 cloth masks for healthcare workers as per reports. They have also tied up with UCLA to give premium quality medical requirements in huge numbers.

The UCLA executive Becky Mancuso stated that: “IATSE has been functioning as a true partner to UCLA Health during our crisis response efforts.”
