The Asgardians are facing a tough time at the box office in their new roles in Men In Black: International.
Both Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, fresh after their success in Avengers: Endgame couldn’t create the magic Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones did in the previous installments of the franchise. The movie still reminds how much crucial Will Smith was to face of Men In Black. The franchise still needs Will Smith. Some actors are inseparable with certain franchises they star in. You can’t separate Jim Carrey from Ace Ventura, Bruce Willis from Die Hard, and any Rambo movie is unimaginable without Sylvester Stallone starring in it.
Sony’s Men In Black: International opened its initial weekend with $28.5 million, much lesser than what previous installments of the movie made in their opening weekend. Sony was banking on the on-screen chemistry of Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in MCU but unfortunately misfired.
Experts expected the movie to collect above $30 million in the weekend. Adding to that, even the reviews were dismal. The movie fetched 5.6 on IMDb and 24% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Though the response in the U.S has been lukewarm, the movie hopes to make it big overseas. But you have to give it to Sony for their audacity to take off Will Smith from the franchise. Hope they learn from their mistake.
Wish Will could just flash this device so that we can forget this movie.
