Queen Elizabeth II hosted the President and First Lady at Windsor Castle in her royal residence near London on Sunday. President Biden and the First Lady briefly met the Queen at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit. Biden describes her as an “extremely gracious” women and said “reminded me of my mother”
It is said that Bieden was the 13th U.S president to meet Queen Elizabeth II in her nearly 70-year reign. The 95-year-old Queen in the castle’s quadrangle waited beneath a covered dais, and it was one of the hottest days of the year. Biden and the First Lady arrived in the presidential helicopter and were taken to the queen in a black Range Rover. The Royals welcomed them with an Official Guard of Honor military parade, followed by the U.S national anthem. The President and the first lady stood with the queen while the national anthem was played. Later they had tea inside the 1,000-year-old castle.
Back in April, a question was raised if Biden wanted to meet the Queen while in the U.K, Jen Psaki, Press Secretary said “Who wouldn’t want to meet the Queen?” After the visit, at Heathrow Airport Biden Spoke about the Queen with his traveling corps, said that she was “extremely gracious” he also added, “I don’t think she’ll be insulted, but she reminded me of my mother.” Biden also confirmed that he invited the Queen to visit the White House.
