Post 9 months after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, John Boyega has finally revealed his role getting sidelined in Disney.
In a brief talk with GQ, he said about the unsatisfactory way his character was helmed by Lucasfilm and Disney. His role as Stormtrooper is seen rejecting his character with evil and First Order to accompany a group of gangsters, and Resistance at the end of the third movie in the trilogy series.
Several allegations that John brought was that the Star Wars followers and critics also felt the same with the story of his role especially the way Finn was secondary and didn’t give an opportunity like the roles of Daisy Ridley’s Ray and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren.
“What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them pushed to the side,” Boyega said to GQ. “It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up.”
Further, Lucasfilm and Disney have been witnessing accusations for filming the latest trilogy this way.
Sharing the view about the film popular critic Robert Daniels stated that: “In The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson turns him into the MacGuffin love interest — whose romantic importance is teased but never fulfilled,” and added that “by the time Rise of Skywalker came out, Finn is “at best the comic relief opposite Poe, and at worst an accessory to the action.”
