Amongst few A-listers, it is Jonathan Ross who has come in support of Emily Maitlis after her statements on Dominic Cummings were violated for ‘impartiality guidelines.’
Her comments were appreciated by few as she began the show saying the U.K prime minister’s leading advisor Dominic had violated the rules of lockdown and said: “The country can see that, and it’s shocked the government cannot.”
Adding to this in her 1 and half minute monologue she said: “The disease is not a great leveler, the consequences of which everyone – rich or poor – suffers the same. This is a myth that needs debunking.”
Speaking on this issue BBC released an official statement and said: “We’ve reviewed the entirety of last night’s Newsnight, including the opening section, and while we believe the program contained fair, reasonable and rigorous journalism, we feel that we should have done more to make clear the introduction was a summary of the questions we would examine, with all the accompanying evidence, in the rest of the program.”
“As it was, we believe the introduction we broadcast did not meet our standards of due impartiality.”
I am the Editor of Newsnight @carolecadwalla & I am responsible for the output of the programme. @maitlis hasn’t been replaced tonight in response to the BBC statement. @katierazz is part of the team and we work as a team throughout.

To this statement of BBC, Jonathan Ross tweeted saying: “Impartial reporting does not mean you need to lie just because that’s the Governments current MO.”
She was speaking the truth so why did BBC bosses react this way? Impartial reporting does not mean you need to lie just because that’s the Governments current MO… https://t.co/GIicTm7ihB

Whereas Nigella Lawson labeled Maitlis as “the voice of sanity” and Caitlin Moron stated that her beginning of the statement was “accurate summation of the situation.”
Further, Stephen Mangan said: “BBC’s statement was wrong and craven”.
Ok fair enough. But BBC statement still wrong and craven. https://t.co/rc71aM8rHv
