Judy Garland’s Role Portrayed by Renee Zellweger in Her New Movie!

Renee Zellweger might have played the role of Judy Garland with much elegance but the real life of Judy was pathetic.

Known for her movies Wizard of Oz, A Star is Born etc Judy was ruling the cinema world but her personal life was havoc as she was fighting with substance abuse and her image from her teenage.

The latest flick talks about her life from 1968 to 1969 where she performs a lot of shows in London in spite of her depression. But in the movie, it looked turbulent.

Judy was married at a very tender age to David Rose in 1941 in Vegas besides her mother’s wish. Their marriage was on rocks in few days and parted ways in 1944.

She went on to marry Vincente Minnelli director of St.Louis and gave birth to their girl Liza in 1946 but her self-doubt and gloominess made her separate from him and she started taking medication on her own.

She went through a nervous break after she was thrown out of MGM Studios. Further, she had an extramarital affair with Sid Luft and parted from Vincente in 1951. Judy then tied the knot with Luft in the following year and Sid had stated that he always wanted to safeguard her in every situation.

Her marriage with Sid lasted for 13 years and had 2 kids Lorna Luft and Joey Luft. But Garland was addicted to alcohol, drugs and her problems with food. Luft also went on to say that: “Most of her teen and adult life, she had been on either Benzedrine or a diet or both,” Luft wrote. “Unlike other actresses, she could not successfully camouflage extra weight, especially because she was dancing and singing in revealing costumes. Just 4 feet 11 1/2 inches, she could be underweight and still appear heavy or out of proportion onscreen.”

To uplift her career Luft also helped her to balance her diet.
