Last Christmas: What went missing in the ‘supposed-to-be rom-com’?

A Christmas rom-com with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding in the lead could have ended up being the best Saturday night movie to watch with your loved one.

A Christmas rom-com with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding in the lead could have ended up being the best Saturday night movie to watch with your loved one. But, does the script really do justice to the theme and the characters? We doubt not!

Directed by Paul Feig, Last Christmas is about how Kate’s boredom of working in a Christmas store takes a new turn as super-charming Tom enters her life making things surreal. It sounds like a perfect Holiday cinema, doesn’t it? Wait, there’s more!

Probably the teaser has revealed us a bit too much about the plot rather than what was intended. With Kate undergoing heart surgery the previous year, she struggles hard to get back with life. Well, if at you’re wondering if Tom was the one who saved her life the last time as well; you’re kinda right! This will mean Tom is dead, right? Well, we didn’t want to release spoilers, but, it’s all there in the trailer and you simply can’t blame us.

This is where we wonder Bryony Kimmings and Emma Thompson could have come up with a better script. In spite of all this, Last Christmas is a cozy and feel-good film that could’ve done great at the box office with a different plot altogether. With all that said, it is a one-time watch for all those peeps like us who love Christmas movies.
