Directed by Tom Hooper, this epic period musical movie is a British-American venture. The film revolves around Jean Valjean, who is the protagonist. He is a parolee who tries to redeem himself. Actors Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, and more form the ensemble cast of this movie.

 

4. La La Land – 2016

This romantic musical has Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, J.K. Simmons, and others. Gosling plays the role of a jazz pianist who struggles in life and Stone portrays the character of an aspiring actress. They fall in love while chasing their dreams in Los Angeles. The movie’s score was composed by Justin Hurwitz, and the choreography was done by Mandy Moore. The film went on to become a commercial success.

 

5. The Greatest Showman – 2017

This musical is also a biographical drama directed by Michael Gracey. The cast includes Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, etc. The movie is about P.T. Barnum, an entertainer and showman, who is the founder of the Barnum and Bailey Circus. The film became popular because of the actors’ excellent performances and the visuals.
