Microsoft is planning to upgrade its gaming features to bring joy and community gaming to everyone. The technology giant is paying a whopping $70 billion for Activision Blizzard, the maker of Candy Crush and Call Duty. This deal will eventually make Microsoft the world’s largest video game company than Nintendo. It will help Microsoft compete with tech monsters like Meta in creating immersive virtual worlds for both work and play.
Activision has been buffeted for months by allegations of misconduct and unequal pay. While addressing the issue in a conference call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that “ the culture of our organization is my No.1 priority. It’s critical for Activision Blizzard to drive forward, she added. Activision closed last year because of complaints about workplace discrimination. However, it was investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Last year, Microsoft finalized a $7.5 billion deal to acquire ZeniMax Media, ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, popular for The Elder Scrolls, Doom, and Fallout. The company also have been investigating sexual harassment and gender discrimination. They also plan to publish a report on how the company handles the situation.
