The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has sworn in again for the second time at the 116th congress ceremonial swearing-in on Jan 3rd. She vowed to protect Dreamers -undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children; while quoting Former President, Ronald Reagan’s speech “He said, ‘If we ever close the door to new Americans, our leadership role in the world will soon be lost’, she said”.
The highlight of the twilight is that the speaker, a 78-year-old grandmother called up her grandchildren, as well as any other children who wanted to join her before taking the oath just like she did last time, a decade ago. It was cute as well as an emotional moment for the spectators. It was adorable when the new Speaker of the House told the little ones they could return to their parents if they wanted — and they stayed put!
When she cast her vote for herself, it was charming that her grand-daughter grabbed her hand and jumped up and down with excitement. Before leaving the stage her grandkids planted a kiss on their granny’s cheeks! How sweet that was!
The event got the Instagrammers to open up a torpedo of emotions through comments and pictures. Some users have taken their kid’s pictures in front of the tv during the telecast of oath ceremony and captioned their support for the new congress speaker on Instagram.
