When the world is busy watching Netflix amidst Corona Virus hype, the online streamer from Los Gatos, California has come up to donate a whopping sum of $100 million to the employees who have been terminated from their jobs in productions in Hollywood.
The firm stated that this fund will be given to emergency employees who worked in productions like electricians, carpenters, drivers told Ted Sarandos the chief content officer in his blog.
He also added that as people working in TV and movie have jobless post the effect of Corona Virus which has spread across the world.
A sum of $15 million will be given to Television and movie fraternity through 3 rd parties and nonprofit firms that will cater to urgent needs.
Speaking on this he said: “Most of the fund will go towards support for the hardest-hit workers on our own productions around the world,” and “we’re in the process of working out exactly what this means, production by production. This is in addition to the two weeks’ pay we’ve already committed to the crew and cast on productions we were forced to suspend last week.”
He also stated that: “This community has supported Netflix through the good times, and we want to help them through these hard times, especially while governments are still figuring out what economic support they will provide.”
The company also told that it will give “$1 million to all the SAG-AFTRA COVID-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund and The Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the U.S., and $1 million between the AFC and Fondation des Artistes and so on.”
