January 03, 2019- More Than 100 Women Are Sworn Into Congress

On January 03, 2019, a historically diverse group of people were sworn into the House. Including more than 100 women, with 107 women in the 116h Congress, there are now over four times as many female members of the House as when Speaker Nancy Pelosi first joined in 1987. The face of the House has significantly changed. This was a historical moment.

Greta Thunberg- The Young Activist

In September 2019, Thunberg addressed the UN Climate Action Summit in New York. Then she was also nominated for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.

Greta Thunberg is a 17-year-old Swedish environmental activist on climate change. She started her strike in August 2018. She began to spend her school days outside the Swedish Parliament to call for stronger action on global warming. Many listened to her speech and started to protest with her but then her sudden rise was in May 2019, when Thunberg was featured on the cover of ’Time Magazine’ as a next-generation leader.

President Donald- Third President in U.S. History to be Impeached

In December 2019 Trump was impeached on the charges of abuse of power for enlisting a foreign alley to investigate a political rival ahead of the 2020 election and also on the charge of obstruction of Congress.

This made history.

Former Attorney Michael Cohen Testifies To Congress

Michael Cohen was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. He confessed to committing multiple crimes while working as President Trump’s attorney during the beginning of his presidency. Cohen implicated President Trump in multiple crimes, and on February 27, 2019, he publicly testified in front of Congress and said that President Trump is “a racist, he is a con-man, and he is a cheat.”

Cohen also alleged that President Trump knew that WikiLeaks planned to publish DNC emails.
