Nicki Minaj is currently sued by the legendary pop singer Tracy Chapman. Now Tracy Chapman had a hit song called “Baby Can I Hold You”. Nicki wanted to sample that song for her album Queen, as a matter of fact, the producer produced this record in a Nicki Song with Nas called “Sorry” where the sample of the Tracy Chapman’s “Baby Can I Hold You”.
Not only that Nicki was actually singing the verse of her song but Tracy wasn’t pleased with this at all. Nicki attempted to get cleared. Now it’s weird that Nicki said that she did not know when she was singing the melody in her version. So she had to have known her song but Nicki is now sued by Tracy because this song did end up getting into fights even though she did not put it.
On her album, it was leaked by DJ Funk Master Flex. According to a report, Tracy is suing for an order prohibiting Nicki and her team from releasing the song again. She also wants damages due to the song leakage. Tracy is very protective over her music. She seems like she’s very particular and she doesn’t like her songs being used by other artists. But this is all unfortunate for Nicki as she really wanted this song to be in her album and seemed this song is nice. But it didn’t work out and that’s too bad.
