Naomi Watts is British, but her family later moved to Australia. Her parents got a divorce when she was just a four-year-old girl. And then, Watts and her brother moved many times across South East England, along with their mom. Initially, Naomi Watts attended a Welsh school. Watts was determined to become an actress right from the time she watched her mom on stage. Watching the movie, “Fame” (1980), was also a reason for her decision to become an actress. 

 

Watts moved with her family to Sydney, Australia, when she was fourteen. She later enrolled in acting classes. During the years she auditioned, Watts met and then became a friend of the famous actress, Nicole Kidman. In the course of years, Watts did some odd jobs. However, she did not graduate from school. After she became a model, she did lots of auditions, many of which failed. 

 

She started her career by acting in television commercials. She was catapulted to fame when she starred in the psychological thriller known as “Mulholland Drive,” which was directed by David Lynch. In fact, the movie was the breakthrough Watts was waiting for. More films followed, and Watts was once again recognized as one of the exceptionally gifted actresses when she starred in the movie, “The Ring.” It turned out to be one of the biggest box office hits. There were more movies, one of which was the acclaimed “21 Grams.” Naomi Watts received several awards and accolades, including an Academy Award nomination, for this movie. She went on to play roles in films, such as “The Ring Two,” “King Kong,” and “The Assassination of Richard Nixon.” 

 

Watts was in a serious relationship with American actor, Lieve Schreiber. She shares two sons with him. But after many years together, they split. Later, Watts started dating another American actor, Billy Crudup. Watts has also contributed a lot toward the awareness of AIDS and has been active in several other charity works.
