Rami Malek wins the Best Actor award at the 91st Academy award for portraying Freddie Mercury in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody after beating strong contenders, including Christian Bale as Dick Cheney in Vice and Bradley Cooper as musician Jack Maine in A Star Is Born.
Following a recent string of Best actor awards in Baftas, Golden Globes, Screen Actors’ guild, it was pretty obvious that Rami would nail the Oscar jury for his uncanny Freddy Mercury’s portrayal.
The Bohemian Rhapsody was definitely one of the best (if not THE BEST) movies of 2018. Its resounding success at the box office won the hearts of the audience and critics alike.
Rami dedicated his Award to his mother, who was seated in the auditorium, saying “I love you, lady” and added that his father was “looking at him from above.”
Rami winning the Oscar is a very positive gesture considering the fact that it was about a gay immigrant rising to enormous levels and winning hearts worldwide. Movies these days are focusing more on challenges and triumphs of the minority communities and gaining huge momentum amidst The President shunning efforts to sensitize the immigrants.
