David Letterman’s show post the tragic September 11, 2001, has two special guests: Dan Rather and Regis Philbin. Instead of letting out their emotions David and Regis were seen having a lighter chat on how to make a comeback for the late-night show post the devastating news.
David said to Regis who is the guest often that: “I knew if you were there,” “we could make something of that.”
Regis who passed away this Friday was 88 and he was best known for grabbing every viewer’s attention for hours together which was quite huge in American TV history without jokes or stories. His simple talks with numerous guests on the show were done with such charm and ease.
Regis presented this in a regional television where at times he hosted shows in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York which would have made huge money for popular networks.
He took initially into a national show in the long run “Live” and later he hosted “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” which brought him garners and made the show as one of the top-rated in the US. Further, when the show’s importance was given to ABC Phibin fondly said to people that “Regis saved the network!”
And that still remained even after Regis stepped down in 2011 and went off the air.
