Richard Belzer, a multi-talented actor known best for performing detective John Munch in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, passed away at the age of 78 in his French home peacefully with his family by his side. His last words were “F—- you, motherf—-er,” according to Bill Scheft, a writer at the former Late Show with David Letterman who is also working on a documentary on Belzer.
Laraine Newman expressed her deepest condolences to her best friend on her Twitter page. “I’m so sad to hear of Richard Belzer’s passing. I loved this guy so much. He was one of my first friends when I got to New York to do SNL. We used to go out to dinner every week at Sheepshead Bay for lobster. One of the funniest people ever. A master at crowd work. RIP dearest,” tweeted Laraine Newman.
Chris Meloni an other “Law & Order” star tweeted a picture of him kissing the late stand-up comedian with the comment, “Good bye mon ami. I love you.”
