It’s no wonder that the world’s most innovative company is mired in backlashes, controversies and an unending number of lawsuits.
But the one that recently brought Apple into the news is more awkward than funny.
A Russian user of the iPhone has alleged that he downloaded an app from the App Store which turned him into a gay.
As per a report from The Moscow Times, D. Razumilov has come forward, filing a lawsuit of $15,000. In the lawsuit, he claimed that back in 2017, he downloaded an app called GayCoin on his iPhone. While using he app, he received an in-app pop-up, urging him to ‘have an open mind’ and encouraging him to explore his sexuality with the same gender.
And just like a devout listener, he listened to it and two years down the lane, he finds himself in a serious romantic relationship with another man.
“I can say after the passage of two months that I’m mired in intimacy with a member of my own sex and can’t get out,” the suit reads. “I have a steady boyfriend and I don’t know how to explain it to my parents. After receiving the aforementioned message, my life has changed for the worse and will never be normal again.”
And Razumilov thinks that Apple was behind all this.
Not to mention Russia’s no-so-friendly stance on the LGBT rights on their home soil. It’s one of the least gay-friendly countries in the world.
I mean think about it– Russia is so far behind when it comes to respecting the LGBT community that a man is compelled to believe that a gadget coerced him to be a gay.
Not so funny, I know.
