Teenager Gavi, 17, Becomes Spain’s Youngest International after Remarkable Debut
Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, famously known as Gavi becomes Spain’s youngest international football player. From the youth ranks of Real Betis to world fame, here is everything about that one game.
Gavi joined the Barcelona academy as a child and has risen to the top pretty fast. He joined the senior league alongside Ansu Fati and Pedri this August for the Catalan side. Gavi is currently playing as a midfielder for Barcelona and Spain national team.
Though he has only played 374 minutes to his whole career, Gavi destroyed Italy’s winning streak after 37-game during his Wednesday debut in the UEFA Nations League. The 2-1 semi-final game was his eighth game in his senior fledgling career.
Apart from the ongoing accolades of fame, Gavi broke Angel Zubieta’s 85-year record(17 years and 284 days) record by becoming the youngest player (17 years and 62 Days).
Gavi played against several tough stars like Marco Verratti and Jorginho in his game and showcased world-class professionalism, game control, and agility. “Nothing is too much for him, he has the personality and quality to play at this level,” added coach Enrique who also played for Barcelona. Gavi and the team are all set to face either France or Belgium in the Nations League final.
