The automobile firm is still running to make cars in Fremont, California plant after it is said to progress its production after there is a hype to stop work. Tesla chief HR Valerie Workman from North America has emailed its workers on Wednesday to continue work.
He stated that: “We still do not have a final word from the city, county, state, and federal government on the status, of our operations. We have had conflicting guidance from different levels of government,” said Workman. “Until then we are operating with essential employees only while all others are working from home, and working to incorporate all CDC guidelines into our operations.”
Valerie further added that: “electric-car maker’s “essential” functions as “production, service, deliveries, testing, and support groups.” Employees who do not work in one of those areas may be temporarily assigned to one of them.”
He also added that: “Those who stay home because they’re sick, unable to work, or worried about the coronavirus must use PTO to get paid.”
Meanwhile, the county of Alameda has announced to stop all “nonessential businesses to cease most activity in an effort to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.” But the county had earlier stated Tesla’s car factory as “essential” business, but now it has changed the categorization on Tuesday, saying that the company may have to stop production.
To this, both Tesla and the Alameda has not replied to it yet.
Further, on Monday the company’s Chief Executive Elon Musk has emailed the workers that they need not work if they are ill or if they are worried about coronavirus spread but did not specify whether people working from home have to use PTO to get paid.
