1. Get Out (2017)
This Oscar-winning horror/comedy thrill ride came unexpectedly and completely out of nowhere! Little did we think that first-time director Jordan Peele would come up with such a cult classic. This movie is sure to make you paranoid when you visit your boyfriend/girlfriend’s parents and befriend a TSA employee, Lol.
2. The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin, where they get more than they bargained for, discovering the truth behind the cabin in the woods. A parodied take on scary movies and horror creatures this film is an unsuspecting Halloween treat.
3. Scream (1996)
No Halloween movie list is complete without the Scream franchise. It has now up to five movies, but the first installment from 1996 is a Halloween classic. The Ghostface killer appearing in this movie has become a classic Halloween costume.
4. Hocus Pocus (1993)
This over-the-top comedy has witches, their craft, and lots of laughs. Three Salem witches are accidentally resurrected by three kids who now have to stop them! A fun, family-friendly Halloween watch. Make a costumed movie night with your girl besties and play the three witches, for added fun!
5. Death Becomes Her (1992)
Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis, and Goldie Hawn! This star-studded dark comedy follows the tale of two women who stop at nothing to stay beautiful forever. They take a potion that promises eternal youth, however, the elixir has unintended consequences.
6. Beetlejuice (1988)
After dying in a car crash, the ghosts of Adam and Barbara Maitland are informed that they have to remain in their house for 150 years. This is fine until their house is sold to a family they can’t stand. The couple hires freelance bio-exorcist Beetlejuice to scare the Deetzes away, but the job is stalled when Beetlejuice makes it his priority to marry the Deetzes’ daughter, Lydia, so he can return to the land of the living.
