One of the notable actors and directors in England in the 1930s is Laurence Oliver. In honor of him, they have been giving awards in his name to the best of theatre artists till today.
Laurence stated that: “I don’t approve of prizes for actors unless I am receiving them.” Every year the drama artist is appreciated for their contribution to the small screen.
The panels of judges will shortlist as per the norms of the “Society of London Theatre,” which doesn’t sound fair. And rules can be changed as years have gone by and new trends have come. Some of the talented theatre groups from parts of England have not been considered which is quite disheartening.
This thought seems baseless and these awards are often bagged by the Royal Opera and English National Opera. The sad part is, these 2 are always in the entire 7 nominations in 2 categories. So, getting the price has been quite easier for these two as there is nobody to compete. Further, it has no live show and it just has a glimpse of the show late night.
Above all, it must be taken into consideration that other theatres across the country should also be laurelled for their hard work and talents.
