It has come as no surprise that online streaming platforms have taken over the conventional television channels that were once the only means to watch your favorite shows. Simply paying a monthly subscription fee and watching an endless list of movies and series in a gadget of your choice seemed more convenient than panicking about missing a show on TV. Today, more than half of America’s population has subscribed to streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. And, the most interesting fact that has made these online channels a hit is that they host a series of teenage dramas that are witnessing record views.
Well, what really makes these adolescent dramas a success among other genres? If you take a closer look, these shows simply don’t rely on high-school events. There is everything from solving murder mysteries (Riverdale) to interesting portrayals of autism (Atypical). There are more teen shows such as ‘The End of The F***ing World, Red Oaks, Sex Education, Stranger Things, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, etc that have new faces, fresh plots, and screenplays that keep the audience glued to their screens.
Now that online streaming platforms have started producing their own content that includes a good number of adolescent and coming-of-age shows and movies, we’re quite sure this genre is something that will hugely dominate online streaming in the coming years.
