Olivia de Havilland, one of the last remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, has died at the age of 104. The timeless actress in Hollywood from Japan is Olivia De Havilland. Born on July 1, 1916, she was one of the motion picture actors known for her amazing and brilliant acting in her early days.
She shifted to California with her sister Joan Fontaine, her mom and dad De Havilland a British based lawyer in 1919. When she was doing her schooling she was chosen to play the role of Hermia for the play Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1935.
She then went on to do films like “Captain Blood (1935), The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), and They Died with Their Boots On (1941) and romantic characters in Strawberry Blonde (1941), Hold Back the Dawn (1941), and The Male Animal (1942) and portrayed Melanie Wilkes in Gone with the Wind (1939).”
Years later in 2017, she was seen in “FX TV series Bette and Joan” which depicts the enmity between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. The story also talks about their past as they were good old friends. But Havilland sued the FX firm as they had misused her name and individuality for their advertisement. The case was brought before the California appellate court which was dissolved and she later took it to the Supreme Court which never heard the case.
She was garnered with several prestigious awards like “American National Medal of Arts in 2008, Legion of Honour in France and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE).”
